IMC 523, 525 and 526 Series – Single Phase models

Following a number of site inspections we have discovered that some 500 Series Waste Disposers have not been installed with an RCD and Isolator in accordance with the installation and operating manual. Both a 30mA RCD and a 30A isolator must be fitted to prevent the risk of electrocution. To view of a copy of the manual please click here.

To ensure the safety of operators whilst using our waste disposers we wanted to highlight this requirement to you and ask that you share this with customers who have purchased a 500 Series Waste Disposer. Below we have included pictures of what a typical RCD and isolator looks like to assist you and your customers in identifying whether the unit has been correctly installed.

What you should look for:

If you or your customers have any queries or require a free of charge health check please contact the IMC Service Desk on 01978 661155. When calling it is helpful if you or your customer can have the serial number of the unit to hand, this can be found on the bottom of the rating label on the food waste disposer.

Following installation waste disposers should be regularly inspected and tested to ensure that seals and bearings remain in good condition, and that water ingress to the motor does not damage or present the risk of electrocution during operation.

Yours sincerely
