Ramada Hotel and Suites on Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Rd – Ajman – United Arab Emirates has recently sort to boost its food waste management schemes and turned to IMC for assistance.

The hotel was generating over 360kg of food waste per day in the form of both preparation and plate waste from a series of restaurants and room service options on the premises. Ramada originally composted as much waste as possible but this was severely capped by its original equipment.

IMC introduced its WasteStation food waste macerator and dewatering system into the process. With a capacity of 700kg per hour, the WasteStation was able to both vastly increase the capacity and, due to the small consistent dewatered particle size produced by the macerator, reduce the composting time from 24 hours to just 12.

Ramada now have a process with greatly increased capacity and just as importantly, removed the vast majority of collection costs for its food waste. The compost produced at the Ramada Ajman is now directly used on the hotels urban farm as fertiliser, providing a 100% recycling solution from a major waste source.
